Retrospective Tense

Retrospective Tense and Progressive Tense are two photography series that explore Li’s innermost attachments in specific locations. These locations are places that had the most profound impact on Li’s personal journey. Upon using styles of photojournalism and street photography, he conveys his personal reflections of the exterior, which is surprisingly, rationally and humorously intimate.

Retrospective Tense are series of photographs Li has documented in his hometown Dali. Upon returning to his home after years of emergence within a different culture, he was astonished by the tremendous transformation in Dali. He revisited streets and sites where he had deep attachment with, and tends to use photography as a mean to eradicate and replace his old depiction of Dali.
